Personal profile

Biography

I have expertise in GIS, spatial data analysis and geospatial machine learning; remote sensing and image analysis; and software development. My research develops tools and techniques to create maps of land cover, land use or other features on the Earth’s surface. I am also interested in the drivers and consequences of changes to built, natural, and agricultural environments. Often, this work is focused on Australian agricultural or urban landscapes and in support of international rural development projects.

I collaborate widely across research, government, not-for-profit, and private sectors. I have recent experience working in Australia, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Pacific Island Countries. Alongside my research activities, I develop and deliver GIS and geospatial data analysis training for a range of audiences spanning university education to government officials.

I have developed and coordinate the undergraduate Advanced Spatial Analysis (GEOG3300) and Decisions from Data in Agriculture (AGRI3003) units. I teach the geospatial machine learning component of Advanced Spatial and Environmental Modelling (ENVT5566) as part of the Masters of Environmental Science program.
