Personal profile

Biography

I’m a geographer and spatial data scientist. I have expertise in geospatial software development, remote sensing and satellite image analysis, and statistical analysis and machine learning. My research uses socio-economic, climatic, and environmental datasets to monitor and detect climatic and environmental changes and explore how these changes impact society. I have developed and coordinate the Advanced Spatial Analysis unit, which teaches undergraduate students a range of data science skills relevant for working with geospatial data.

I collaborate widely across research, government, not-for-profit, and private sectors. I have recent experience working in Australia, South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Pacific Island Countries. Alongside my research activities, I develop and deliver GIS and geospatial data analysis training for a range of audiences spanning university education to government officials.

Please visit the Livelihoods and Landscapes site to learn more about geospatial applications we are developing and using to map agricultural landscapes in Pacific Island Countries.
