Biography

Dr Smith is an implementation scientist with a comprehensive program of work in implementation science. He conducts research in both Australia and the UK, focusing on consumer and community involvement, as well as collaborating with government entities, not-for-profit organisations, and other stakeholders in his research.

Dr Smith focuses on the speedy translation of research evidence into practice, and he is passionate about the development of rapid approaches applied to complex system-level and behaviour change research. His recent research emphasises designing interventions collaboratively with those with lived experience, using a novel methodology that incorporates consumer and community involvement. His work has focused on industry-based projects, adding further to his extensive academic experience in evaluating large-scale programs.

Dr Smith has been recognised by industry partners for his research contributions, and he was honoured to be awarded Western Australia’s first Consumer and Community Involvement Research Fellowship, which enabled him to become a fully industry-embedded researcher, tackling real-world challenges and making a meaningful impact.

Dr Smith is enthusiastic about fostering collaborative partnerships with industry professionals and welcomes inquiries from industry leaders interested in exploring mutually beneficial research and innovation opportunities.
