Biography
I received my Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2011, followed by a Master's degree from Beijing Normal University in 2014. I completed my PhD at The University of Western Australia in 2018, specializing in gravitational wave instrumentation. In 2017, I served as a LIGO Fellow at LIGO Hanford Observatory and worked on the new all-bolted pre-mode cleaner project. After my PhD, I worked as a Junior Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Hannover, Germany, on general commissioning of the 10-metre prototype. I have been an active member of the LIGO-VIRGO-KAGRA scientific collaboration since 2014.
Currently, I am a Research Fellow at UWA and the Program Scientist for Instabilities and Control at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav). My research focuses on various aspects of gravitational wave instrumentation, particularly in the suppression of high-power instabilities, including angular instability and parametric instability, and the enhancement of quantum performance in gravitational wave detectors. Additionally, I am developing a 2-micrometre wavelength-suspended cryogenic silicon test mass optical cavity at the Gingin High Optical Power facility, which is essential for advancing the next generation of gravitational wave detectors.
