Biography
Dr Jess Kruk is a sociolinguist and lecturer in Indonesian Studies. Her research focuses on identifying and addressing the exclusion of marginalised people from social, economic, and cultural life in the Asia Pacific. Her current projects include an investigation of the languages and identities of ethnic Chinese minorities in Indonesia, an exploration of how extreme metal musicians in the Asia Pacific write 'metal' lyrics using non-English languages, reimagining, and reinvigorating Indonesian language teaching and enhancing language communication to fight prejudice in the general public.
