Research

Jeannette's research aims to provide a better understanding of and an improvement in the administration of public organisations. Her research in public administration and policy is largely divided into two streams. The first focuses on public sector integrity, such as whistleblowing. Her research on factors affecting public servants' whistleblowing behaviours have included corruption type (e.g., cronynism) and group effects (e.g., trust in managment). The second stream of research focuses on human resource management issues in the public sector, such as recruitment, motivation, and performance management. Jeannette has examined how systems, policies, and culture have shaped public servants' work attitudes and behaviours.

Her latest research project is aimed at building a key performance indicator/measure that demonstrates a public institution's capacity to establish and maintain a conducive (e.g., fair and ethical) work environment in order to facilitate and encourage public servants to perform meaningful public service for citizens.

Jeannette is the Associate Editor of Public Administration Review. She also sits on the editorial board of other international journals: Review of Public Personnel Administration, Public Management Review, and Asia Pacific Journal of Public Administration.
