Biography
Dr Jason Weismueller is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Marketing department at the UWA Business School. His research interests lie in digital marketing, including influencer marketing campaigns, as well as broader digital topics such as the spread of misinformation and strategies to combat it.
Research
Jason’s work has been published in journals such as Information Systems Journal, Computers in Human Behavior, Australasian Marketing Journal, and Business Horizons. He has also contributed to public engagement through media outlets such as The Conversation and has given interviews on radio stations including ABC Perth.
He regularly attends and presents at national and international conferences, including marketing conferences such as ANZMAC, EMAC, and AMS, as well as information systems conferences including PACIS.
Jason has secured more than $40,000 in research funding to support his work on misinformation.
Teaching
Jason has taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate units, including MKTG1203 Introduction to Marketing, MKTG3308 Marketing Analytics, and BUSN5003 Data Storytelling.
His excellence in teaching has been recognised by the Higher Education Academy through the award of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) status. He also received the UWA Business School Teaching Excellence Award in 2025.
Service
Jason serves as Course Coordinator for the Marketing Major at the UWA Business School, where he is responsible for the strategic direction of the major as well as a range of operational responsibilities.
He provides ad hoc peer reviews for well-regarded international journals, including Information Systems Journal, Internet Research, Psychology & Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Management, among others.
To improve public awareness of the threat of misinformation, Jason has delivered workshops in local libraries, including Perth City Library and City of Vincent Library.
