Biography

Mrs Jamie Ly is a Lecturer in the School of Health and Clinical Sciences at the University of Western Australia. She began her journey at UWA in 2022 and has since taught across the Pharmacy Practice curriculum. Jamie initially taught in the entry‑to‑practice Doctor of Pharmacy program and has more recently transitioned into teaching within the Practitioner Development Doctor of Pharmacy Practice and the Doctor of Pharmacy Refresher programs.
 
Having completed a Master of Wound Care at Monash University in 2022, and drawing on her experience in a pharmacy‑based wound care clinic between 2018 and 2020, Jamie combines her passion for teaching and wound care to further her career. She is currently a PhD candidate, with research aims focused on advancing the role of wound care in pharmacy practice.
 

Teaching overview

Gaining her Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2023, Jamie's integrated approach in teaching is innovative and student-centred. Her passion in providing effective learning environments to diverse learners, adapting assessments and being responsive to feedback, positively impacts learning. This has led to development of microcredentials and more recently being involved in the conception of the Doctor of Pharmacy courses.

Roles and responsibilities

Apart from teaching, Jamie is deeply committed to mentoring pharmacists and other health professionals who are interested in pursuing careers in academia. She has supported numerous colleagues through the HEA fellowship pathway, guiding them in developing reflective teaching portfolios, articulating their pedagogical strengths, and evidencing their impact on student learning. Jamie finds great fulfilment in helping aspiring educators build confidence, refine their teaching practice, and achieve recognition through HEA fellowship, fostering the next generation of academic health professionals.
