Dr Jacqueline Castro Salgado completed her studies as a dentist in 1986 and then as an Endodontist in 1989 at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.
She worked in Bogotá as an Endodontist in private practice on a part-time basis from 1989 until 2002.
During this time, she was also a Consultant Endodontist at a large private dental hospital in Bogotá. In addition, she was a part-time Assistant Professor and then a Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana where she taught in the postgraduate endodontic training programme and was the Program Co-ordinator for many of these years.
She was also a Visiting Professor at the Universidad Santo Tomas in Bucaramanga, Colombia from 1995-1996, and a Professor in the Postgraduate Endodontic Program conducted by the Colombian Dentist Federation from 1997-2002.
From 2003 until 2006, Jacqueline was a Senior Dentist (Endodontics) at the University of Western Australia’s Oral Health Centre in Perth, Australia. Then from 2006 until 2008, she was employed by the University of Western Australia as a Specialist Endodontist and then from 2009 to 2016 as Associate Professor in Endodontics.
From 2016 until now she works as a Specialist Endodontist at the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, the University of Western Australia.
Since 2003 she has also been a part-time Tutor in both the undergraduate and postgraduate training programs at the University of WA.
She has been an active participant in continuing dental education programs and was the President of the Endodontic Society of Bogotá from 1999-2003, the Fiscal of the Colombian Academy of Endodontics from 1999 to 2001.
She was the President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (WA Branch) from 2010-2012. She was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Australian Society of Endodontology (WA Branch) from 2008-2010 and again from 2013-2015
She has presented many lectures at conferences in several countries and has directed several research projects.
Dr Jacqueline Castro Salgado is a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the International College of Dentists, and the Academy of Dentistry International.
She is also a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Specialist Dental Practice, Discipline of Endodontics.
Dr Castro won the “Outstanding Clinical Tutor” award in 2005 and was nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Awards in July 2017.
