Isabella completed her undergraduate degree with honours in Psychology at The University of Western Australia (UWA). She has completed the combined PhD and Master of Industrial and Organisational Psychology program also at UWA. Her PhD is in the field of Human Factors, which is interested in understanding the interaction between humans and elements of a system, and how human capabilities and limitations impact this. Specifically, her research concerns how to best design automation to increase safety and facilitate the accurate and efficient use by human operators in complex work settings such as Defence.
