Biography

Dr. Fantry is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN and SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY. He completed a residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine as well as a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal diseases. Dr. Fantry served in multiple roles at the University of Maryland School of Medicine for 26 years including Clinical Director of the GI Division, GI Fellowship Program Director, Director of the Heartburn and Dyspepsia Program, Pathophysiology and Therapeutics Course Director, and Assistant Dean for Student Research and Education. Subsequently, Dr. Fantry joined the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson in 2016 where he served as the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions and Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions through June 2022 and served as a Co-Director of the MD-PhD Program from 2019 - 2024.

Dr. Fantry is now the Vice Dean for Education of the College of Health Sciences and Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs for the Global MD program at the U of A where he focuses on building and enhancing student services, including optimizing communication and accessibility, providing consistent and collaborative career guidance, preparation for successful residency application, and mentorship all while encouraging wellness and life balance.
