Biography

A mature, dedicated, award-winning educationalist, Fiona qualified as a registered nurse in 1984, working in the intensive care arena and nurse education, working within the higher education sector both in the UK and Australia. Fiona’s doctoral studies used narrative inquiry to explore the factors that influence decision making in relation to the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in the intensive care unit. Fiona has dedicated the last 35 years of her career to nurse academe, making significant institutional-wide contributions to the student experience. Fiona has extensive experience in teaching and learning, curriculum development and accreditation processes. In 2022, she received an Australian Award for University Teaching for exemplary, evidence-informed, collaborative whole-of-School leadership that has significantly improved learning outcomes for nursing students.
