Biography
Fiona Bradley is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Social Studies (Political Science and International Relations). Her research spans international relations, media, and law and focuses on freedom of access to information in its broadest definition, human rights, technology, and the role of transnational advocacy networks in influencing law and policy.
Outside of UWA, she is Director, Research & Infrastructure at UNSW Sydney Library. Prior to joining UNSW in 2018, she was Deputy Executive Director at Research Libraries UK, providing policy and guidance for research-intensive libraries across the United Kingdom and Ireland on issues including research data and infrastructure, open access, and copyright reform. Previously, she held senior management roles at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the peak global organisation representing libraries. In these roles she designed and delivered capacity building programmes in 80+ countries and advocacy for access to information in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in collaboration with library organisations and NGOs worldwide.
She is currently the Chair of the IFLA Open Science & Scholarship Advisory Committee, and a member of the IFLA AI SIG, and the Open Access Australasia executive committee. Previously, she has served as Chair of the SCOSS Advisory Committee, Lead on the CAUL Retaining Rights in IP project, and a member of the Trove Strategic Advisory Committee (National Library of Australia). She is a member of the International Studies Association, the Australian Library and Information Association, and AIMOS, the Association for Interdisciplinary, Metascience, and Open Science.
