Biography
Biography
Dhammi Azariadis is a teaching-intensive academic in the UWA Business School. She completed her PhD at the University of Western Australia and has over 20 years of combined experience teaching French, and English at secondary and tertiary levels in both Sri Lanka and Australia. Dhammi is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a registered teacher with the Department of Education of Western Australia. She is certified to teach French, English as a Second Language (ESL), and English as an Additional Language (EAL) in Australia. Prior to transitioning into her current academic role, Dhammi worked as a Learning Designer and Senior Learning Skills Advisor at UWA.
Teaching Overview
Dhammi currently co-coordinates two units: BUSN5100 – Applied Professional Business Communications (previously MGMT5610), a core unit for international postgraduate coursework students in the Business School; and PACM1101 – Communication in Practice, a compulsory unit for all commencing Mature Age Pathway (MAP) students, supporting their transition into university study.
As a former international student with extensive experience teaching international cohorts at UWA, Dhammi is committed to fostering inclusive learning environments that support integration, engagement, and a positive student experience.
Teaching Awards
Dhammi’s contributions to student learning have been recognised through multiple awards at both the School and University levels. She received the Jin-Boon Lew Tutor Award in 2022, followed by the Business School Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2023. In 2024, her sustained excellence in teaching was acknowledged with a UWA-wide Award for Excellence in Teaching. Most recently, she received a Citation for Excellence in Teaching in 2025 for implementing inclusive practices that foster belonging and cultural inclusion for international students in Australian universities and workplaces.
