Biography

Donald is presently an Administrative Officer in UWA Business School as part of the MBA Programs Team having joined early 2015. The MBA Programs Team provides overall program and unit support for all MBA units throughout the Trimesters, Full Time Sessions, Summer and Winter Programs and non-standard teaching periods. A significant function of this team is to provide Academics with administrative support for the delivery of their unit. The support provided ensures the professional delivery and consistency across all MBA units, enhancing the students experience in relation to their curriculum. Aspects of their role include the management of the Learning Management System, Unit Outlines, timetables, examinations, final results. All tasks within the team are aimed at providing high level and value adding academic support which in turn enables a positive student experience.

Before joining the MBA Programs Team at the UWA Business School, Donald worked briefly for the last three months of 2014 and for the first time at UWA, as Executive Officer in a campus wide project run by the Office for Operational Excellence. This experience provided valuable knowledge in the central operations, policies and procedures of the University and also created invaluable professional links and friendships within and outside the University.

Prior to working at UWA, Donald worked for six years at Curtin Graduate School of Business, initially as Project Officer (research) and eventually, and for most of his time there, as Executive Officer. In the latter role he provided high-level administrative executive support to the Director, senior management, the Industry Advisory Board, Planning and Accreditation work parties and visiting review teams as well as to the School’s Teaching and Learning and Research Committees. This was yet another excellent opportunity for professional growth and forming enduring relationships within and outside the School. Going slightly farther back in time Donald taught languages at high school and college level (Goethe Institute) and was heavily involved in curriculum development, sports and other activities within the field of education in Kenya.
Donald enjoys his experience in the coordination, planning, and support of daily operational and administrative functions and constantly seeks to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Donald holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Education in Languages/Linguistics and a Graduate Diploma in Business.

Roles and responsibilities

The MBA Programs Team which Donald is part of provides support to both MBA Programs and their units within each of these programs; throughout Trimesters, Full Time Sessions, Summer and Winter Programs and non-standard teaching periods. A significant function of this team is to provide Academics with administrative support for the delivery of their MBA unit. The support provided ensures the professional delivery and consistency across all MBA units, enhancing the students experience in relation to their curriculum. We strive to create and facilitate a high level of client support to academics and students. Activities undertaken include: planning and coordination of administrative processes and systems such as Learning Management System, Unit Outlines, timetables and venues, examinations, final results and accreditation evidence collection and management; establishment, maintenance, improvement and monitoring of systems, policies and procedures; liaise with other Schools, Central Administration, internal and external stakeholders; and many other high level administrative activities for the MBA Programs.
