Biography
Denise Chalmers is Winthrop Professor and Director of the Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) at the University of Western Australia. She has led and been a member of several national Australian University Teaching Council (AUTC) and Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) projects such as rewarding and recognising quality teaching and learning through developing teaching and learning performance indicators in Australian universities, measuring the effectiveness and impact of professional development and the Australian university teaching and criteria standards framework project.
She is responsible for supporting the enhancement of teaching and learning in higher education through professional development of academic staff, assessment and academic standards, curriculum development, evaluation of teaching and e-learning across the University.
She has presented her work and consulted with academics and university management internationally.
She is Vice President of the Council of Australian Directors for Academic Development (CADAD) and was President (2008-2013).
