Biography

Dr Dawit Zemedikun is a Research Fellow in the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Centre (CERC) within the School of Population and Global Health (SPGH). His role is supported by fellowship funding from the McCusker Charitable Foundation and co-appointment with Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. He is also a Fellow (GradStat) of the Royal Statistical Society, and an Honorary Research Fellow at University of Birmingham (UK) where he has worked in applied health research projects since 2019. He has been awarded over $1 million in grant and research funding from UK funding bodies including two streams of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funding.

Dr Zemedikun is a biostatistician and a health econometrician by training with a wide range of research interests including chronic disease epidemiology, econometric modelling, and health services research. He has international experience in estimating the health and economic impacts of diseases and interventions, and in conducting multimorbidity/ comorbidity studies. His particular interest is in the analysis of large electronic health records (EHRs) and linked data analysis to answer epidemiological, and health-economic research questions.
