Biography
David has over 40 years experience in urban and regional planning and until 1 January 2015 had been Managing Director of TPG + Place Match, (now Element Advisory), Western Australia’s largest Planning Consultancy since its formation in 1989. David was Executive Chairman of the firm retiring on 30 March 2018. In March 2018, David was appointed by the Governor of Western Australia to Chair the Western Australian Planning Commission and on 16 April 2018, David assumed the role of Chairman of the WAPC.
David has spent the last 35 years at a senior management level specialising in statutory planning, strategic and structure planning, development control, project management and documentation, policy formulation and delivery and planning advocacy. David has a broad range of experience incorporating masterplanned communities, multiple dwelling projects, industrial projects, commercial projects, education and infrastructure projects to urban design analysis, strategic planning and development of planning controls. David has been successfully representing applicants and respondents in Town Planning Appeals for nearly three decades. His advice and on policy formation and delivery is sought after by both local and state government. David has been a Professor, Urban & Regional Planning at UWA since 2010.
