Biography

Dr Daniel Juckes is a writer from Perth, Western Australia. He is a lecturer in Creative Writing at UWA, Associate Editor at Westerly Magazine, and holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Curtin University (for which he was awarded a Chancellor’s Commendation). He is a judge for the WA Premier’s Book Awards and the Tim Winton Award, and holds a position on the executive committee of the Australasian Association of Writing Programs. His creative and critical work has been published in places such as AxonAustralian Book Review, Life Writing, M/C Journal, Meniscus, TEXT and Westerly; his research investigates seamlessness in prose style and the potential of objects in stories about the past. His manuscript—a long-form essay—was highly commended in the 2021 Fogarty Literary Award.
