Personal profile

Biography

Dr Claire Ross is a coral reef ecologist within the Marine Science Program at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in Perth. She completed her PhD on coral growth mechanisms and coral paleothermometry in 2018 at the University of Western Australia.

Research

Claire's research investigates how coral reefs are changing in response to environmental change. In particular, she is interested in understanding the factors that influence coral bleaching responses, coral recruitment dynamics, coral growth mechanisms, the tropicalisation of high-latitude reefs, and the overarching capacity of reefs to produce calcium carbonate at sustainable rates.
