Biography

I am a Research Fellow with the UWA Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy (CEEP). I specialize in applied, policy-focused environmental economic research. My research is primarily based on non-market valuation (using revealed- and stated-preference methods) and benefit-cost analysis. I enjoy research that involves working directly with stakeholders and applying economic tools to help provide solutions to unique challenges faced by environmental managers and policy makers.

Prior to joining the UWA, I worked as an analyst in the public service (the Government of Alberta), and as a Research Assistant under the Future Energy Systems program at the University of Alberta (UoA) in Edmonton, Alberta.

I hold a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics (UWA), an MSc in Agricultural and Resource Economics (UoA), and a BSc in Environmental and Conservation Sciences, specializing in Environmental Economics and Policy (UoA). My PhD was supported by a Forrest Research Foundation Scholarship. My PhD and MSc were supported by nationally competitive fellowships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

Research

My research has centred on a range of topics, including urban greening and biodiversity, water scarcity, and biofuels, and has involved working in interdisciplinary teams with researchers from Australia, South Asia, Canada, and Germany.

Through project work under the NESP Resilient Landscapes Hub, and in affiliation with the UWA Oceans Institute and UWA CEEP, I am currently focused on progressing a Nature Positive research program.

Building on my PhD research, I am also interested in exploring ways of applying economic frameworks to further support State and Local Governments in developing and implementing Urban Greening Strategies.
