Biography

Dr Naseri is an advanced-level physiotherapist with over 25 years clinical experience in hospital and community focussed on falls prevention and recovery for hospitalised older people with chronic disease. Relative to opportunity, Dr Naseri has a track record of 19 published articles (9 as first author), 239 citations; H-index: 9. During her PhD, she published 6 articles in high-ranking journals, including a systematic review and meta-analysis of effective fall prevention interventions for older people recently hospitalized, referenced in the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (2019). Dr Naseri evaluated a fall prevention education intervention for older adults returning home from hospital (n=390), using a behaviour change framework.

As an Early Career Researcher, Dr Naseri has proficiency in implementation clinical research applying a partnership approach with hospital, patient, and family consumers to support prevention of functional decline and falls. She has co- designed and evaluated patient-focussed education programs, healthy ageing community and transitional care programs, and a peer-support program. She has been individually awarded over $125,000 and been instrumental to winning larger grants at UWA Centre for Health and Ageing, led by Professor Anne-Marie Hill. She has been an ECR investigator on a National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia (NHMRC) grant that focussed on falls prevention, and as CIA she wrote an NHMRC grant that focussed on extending her co-designed healthy ageing program to remote communities across Australia. Dr Naseri’s implementation research was recognised for a National Development Grant in 2022 from Australian Association of Gerontology (Hal Kendig Research Trust). This was followed by a larger grant from Royal Perth Hospital Medical Research Future Fund, to extend the program for people recently hospitalised and living with chronic disease. In 2023, her expertise was recognised by St John of God Health Care in the inaugural role of Clinical Specialist in Falls Prevention and Management. After successfully completing a realist implementation of a co-designed fall prevention program at Midland hospital site in 2024, her research was selected by The St John of God Foundation to be a funding priority for the Philanthropy team. Dr Naseri has national and international research collaborations through an outstanding PhD supervisory team who extend across Australia and to the United States, and she has developed strong links through her research networks with researchers in China and the United Kingdom.
