Biography
Mental Health Academic/Registered Mental Health Nurse
Chantal is a registered Mental Health Nurse having practiced in a range of clinical mental health settings ranging from Acute inpatient psychiatry, rehabilitation, counselling, community mental health to clinical nurse consultant roles.
Having lived in Geraldton since 2007, Chantal has a good understanding of rural mental health issues within the local community. In her more recent work, Chantal was leading a mental health program and team that covered the Midwest, Gascoyne and Goldfields. This gave her good insight into the coinciding issues that affect local communities.
In her current role as Mental Health Academic, Chantal has been able to apply her mental health knowledge and understanding of mental health needs of the rural community to implement educational sessions to the community; these include health professionals, the wider community and allied health students. Chantal’s focus is to improve awareness and understanding of mental health within the workforce and community development in regards to access to mental health services.
Chantal is a MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) Instructor, DRUMBEAT facilitator, she develops and delivers interactive workshops on various Mental Health topics through out the Midwest region.
