Biography

I am a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Lecturer in the School of Psychological Science at UWA.

My research primarily focuses on cognitive ageing and dementia, particularly the relationships between brain health and cognition, and protective mechanisms such as reserve and resilience that can reduce the impact of declining brain health on cognitive performance. Reserve and resilience are thought to be built throughout the lifetime via factors that maintain physical health, improve wellbeing, and challenge the mind, e.g., physical activity, social engagement, and learning new skills. My interests in older adult neuropsychology extend to my work as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in Older Adult Mental Health, where I assist multidisciplinary teams with diagnostic clarification, clinical care, and discharge planning for older adults experiencing significant mental health difficulties.

Through my research and clinical practice I hope to improve our understanding of cognitive ageing and dementia, and raise awareness of the ways in which we can protect our brains and cognitive abilities in the long term – it’s never too late to start!
