Personal profile

Biography

Originally from the UK, I have a BA in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths College,  an MA in Migration and Diaspora Studies from SOAS, and a PhD in Sociology. I have lectured and taught in Anthropology and Sociology at UWA, and currently lecture and teach at the McCusker Centre for Citizenship (UWA). I also teach in Asian Studies at Murdoch University. I have presented at conferences in Australia, Denmark, UK and Canada and have published in several academic journals. My interests centre on the construction of race (both racial Others and whiteness), immigration, press, critical discourse analysis and national identity.
