Personal profile

Following her graduation from The University of New South Wales, Carleen Ellis worked as an economist at the head office of the Reserve Bank of Australia for five years. She was primarily involved in financial modelling of the Australian economy and was responsible for the Research Department Forecasting Model.

Subsequently she entered the field of post-secondary education, completing firstly a Graduate Diploma in Education (Higher and Further) and later a Master of Education Management. Her fourteen-year career with TAFE (NSW and WA) included postings such as lecturer, course coordinator and centre manager; roles which covered a wide scope of duties, and facilitated the development of competencies in several fields, including teaching and learning, research, and education management. After a two-year period at Curtin University, Ms Ellis took up the role of Administrative Manager within the School of Surgery in 1999 (Subsequently retitled School Manager). In recognition of the continually changing dynamics within the tertiary education environment she has engaged in continuing education and professional development, in Australia and overseas.

In 2017 Ms Ellis commenced as the Education Officer in the Planning Team of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. From January 2018 she acted in the role of Planning Manager before returning to her substantive position of Education Officer in July 2018.

Ms Ellis brings to her role a wealth of experiences in the education sector, both as a student and as a staff member. In view of her personal experience as an undergraduate student, a postgraduate coursework and research student, a lecturer, course coordinator, academic head of department and financial manager, she has a good understanding of the needs of the diverse range of people with whom she interacts.
