Current projects

I am currently completing my PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the School of Molecular Sciences at UWA, with supervision additionally from Curtin via the Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) and the Curtin Medical School.

My Research focuses on a mobile genetic element in a Nitrogen-fixing rhizobia, and the particular role of a DNA-binding protein in the excision and transfer of this mobile element. I use genetic manipulation, structural biology and biophysics to characterise this protein. I also have varied interest in clinically-relevant microbes and assist in teaching clinical microbiology at Curtin.
