Biography

Bofeng Song is a PhD student at the University of Western Australia, supervised by Professor Kingsley Dixon, Dr Kosala Ranathunge, and Dr Gavin Flematti. His research focuses on orchid pollination biology, particularly long-term trends in pollination services, pollinator declines, and the ecological drivers influencing reproductive success across Australian ecosystems.

Bofeng completed a First Class Honours degree in Biological Sciences at The Australian National University, where his thesis “Herbarium specimens reveal long-term decline in pollination services since the 1970s” provided the first quantitative evidence of long-term pollination decline in Australian orchids. This research was featured by ABC Science (ABC News, 2025).

He is currently funded by the University Postgraduate Award (International Student) and UWA HDR Tuition Fee Scholarship, supporting his continued research on orchid–pollinator interactions and ecological resilience in Western Australian ecosystems.
