Current projects

My research interests include nineteenth-century French and English literature, and culture, particularly women’s writing. I am also interested in cross-cultural exchanges between England and France, travel literature, and translation. Currently, I am working on two projects. On one hand, I am doing research on Mary Mohl and Elizabeth Gaskell which will complement parts of my thesis and be published as a monograph: Victorian Women and the French Connection. On the other hand, I am investigating the ways the French pastoral novel Paul et Virginie (1788) by Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre influenced English literature and thought during the long nineteenth century.
