Personal profile

Biography

Antony Gray is currently an Associate Lecturer in the UWA Business School, and is also Communication, Learning and Transition Coordinator for the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education (ABLE). He is a teaching-intensive academic specialising in communication, critical thinking and English language skills-development. Antony’s teaching supports traditionally ‘at risk’ cohorts at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, including English as an Additional Language (EAL) international students, mature-age students, students with disabilities and other equity groups.

From 2012-2016 Antony worked for STUDYSmarter, UWA's cenralised academic support team, as an Academic Learning Skills Adviser, coordinating a program designed to improve academic writing and research skills for Honours and Masters students.

Teaching overview

Antony Gray coordinates two units that support traditionally disadvantaged students to help them excel in their learning, communication and critical thinking skills. One unit, Applied Professional Business Communications (BUSN5100 previously MGMT5610), helps commencing international postgraduate students in the UWA Business School. The other unit, Communication in Practice (PACM1101), services domestic undergraduates from all over the University. PACM1101 is also a compulsory unit for all commencing Mature Age Pathway (MAP) students at UWA, assisting them to transition into study, with many having no prior experience of learning at a tertiary level.

Antony is also supervising coordinator for Academic and Professional Communications (PACM1100), an undergraduate unit supporting international and exchange students as part of a targeted initiative to provide foundational skills development for these groups across UWA.

From mid-2017 to the start of 2019, Antony was Academic Conduct Adviser, responsible for investigating and adjudicating on breaches of academic conduct within the Business School.
