Personal profile

Anja is currently a PhD Candidate (Hydrology) in the School of Earth Sciences at the University of Western Australia. Previous to commencing her PhD, Anja completed a Bachelor and Master of Science (Environmental Science and Technology) at Technical University Berlin.

Anja's PhD project aims at implementing a combination of innovative field and novel modelling techniques to assess pollutant removal capacities of freshwater streams. In particular, the field techniques will implement multiple fluorescence tracers that not only allow to disentangle occurring transport and some of the biogeochemical processes but also facilitate real time in situ observations. The model development will expand beyond existing techniques in order to interpret the field observations. The ultimate outcome will be a general model framework to assess the reactive transport for emerging pollutants, such as trace organic compounds, in streams and, thus, a tool that helps to infer sustainable water management strategies.
