Personal profile

Biography

I am a Research Associate and Clinical Psychologist Registrar with a Master of Clinical Psychology and a PhD from the University of Western Australia. My clinical work focuses on pain psychology, perinatal mental health, and supporting individuals navigating chronic and complex health conditions. Across these areas, I am particularly interested in how beliefs, narratives, and social context shape people’s experiences of illness, identity, and care.

My research examines these themes at a broader societal level. I investigate how stigma and person-focused misinformation influence social impressions, undermine trust, and contribute to polarisation. This work explores the psychological mechanisms that allow inaccurate or harmful narratives to persist and the conditions under which misinformation is weaponised to destabilise communities and institutions.

Together, my clinical and research programs are united by a central question: how do the stories we tell about people—accurate or not—shape their lives, their wellbeing, and the way they are treated? This integration guides my applied practice, my teaching, and my collaborative work across psychology, health, and national security contexts.

I previously spent 15 years in state and local government working in media relations and strategic communications, and I also hold a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University.
