Biography

Amr is a clinician-scientist with specialization in Dental Biomaterials and Bioengineering. He is leading UWA dental school’s Biomaterials and Nano-dentistry research group.  His current research lab and group at UWA is funded from several external funding agencies including NHMRC, Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF), Colgate, and industrial support from dental materials companies. Amr’s group currently having several PhD, D Clin Dent and DMD students and engaged with several UWA and overseas research collaborators from Asia-Pacific, Europe, and USA.

After completing a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, a master’s degree in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry and a PhD in Biomaterials, Amr began his academic career at Ain Shams University School of Dentistry in Cairo. He then moved to the National University of Singapore into a role within the Department of Restorative Dentistry and then the Discipline of Oral Sciences where he was directing and coordinating Dental Biomaterials teaching and research program at the university, before moving to UWA in 2017.

  • The interaction and potential of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in restorative and adhesive dentistry and dental biofilms eradication.
