Biography

Dr Amelia Harray is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist and Academic, who is a clinical dietetic researcher at the University of Western Australia, Curtin University and Telethon Kids Institute, and the Founder and Director of a novel online dietetic business, Eat Sustainably. At only 28 months post-PhD (FTE), Amelia has secured $8,933,204 in competitive research funds, including $423,522 as CIA/Principal Investigator. She has maintained an active publication record, authoring 19 peer-reviewed publications (n=7 as primary author), and presenting scientific abstracts at 12 international and 19 national conferences (n=18 as primary or senior author). Her two broad areas of interest and dietetic practice include environmentally sustainable dietary behaviours, and the role of nutrition in the daily management of paediatric type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Amelia thrives off working in a team and supporting and encouraging others in science, especially women. She is an Investigator on the Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health (PERTH) Trial at the University of Western Australia Medical School, and is the Clinical Lead of a team of Accredited Practising Dietitians, medical doctors, and nurses. This Trial is measuring changes in health outcomes as a result of reducing plastic chemical exposure through a dietary intervention.

Amelia has been lecturing in the Master of Dietetics and Bachelor of Science (Nutrition) at Curtin University for more than 11 years, and has built capacity by training undergraduate and postgraduate students and dietitians (6 masters, 5 honours students, 5 work experience students and a provisional Accredited Practising Dietitian).
