Biography

Junru Zhang (Alex) is a Lecturer of Accounting in the Accounting and Finance Discipline at the UWA Business School. Prior to his academic career, Alex served in Credit Risk Strategy and Assurance at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he was responsible for credit risk reporting, monitoring, and assurance in consumer finance.

Alex’s research interests mainly focus on sustainability accounting, ESG, and operations and governance in banking which align with his industry experience. He also has a strong interest in research related to AI, such as firm-level AI applications, and AI-focused methodology in empirical research. Alex has published papers in A* and A journals, including British Accounting Review, Journal of Financial Research, International Review of Financial Analysis, Emerging Markets Review, International Review of Economics and Finance, Meditari Accountancy Research, and Journal of Computer Information Systems.
