Biography

Alessandro Silvestri is a PhD candidate and tutor at the University of Western Australia. Alessandro received two Master's degrees (Master of International Law - Master of International Relations) with distinction at the University of Western Australia, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs at the University of Bologna (Italy). Alessandro is the Student Representative for the HDR Law cohort and the Community Speakers Network (CSN) Convenor for the Australian Red Cross, which entails membership to the WA Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Committee.

Research

Currently researching civilians' role in hostilities within the framework of modern warfare and the application of the 'Direct Participation in Hostilities' legal rule onto the battlefield.
