Ainslie is a PhD Candidate in Fine Art at The University of Western Australia's (UWA) School of Design. Ainslie's dissertation explores the career trajectory of living, contemporary, star artists Cecily Brown, Jenny Saville and Del Katherine Barton. Her PhD aims to offer a roadmap to a prosperous livelihood for female artists and an awareness of the enemies that remain. 

Ainslie has worked in the Fine Arts for over two decades as a curator and art consultant. Today she works primarily in art collection management.

Ainslie's academic qualifications include a Master of Curatorial Studies in Fine Art by Research and a Graduate Certificate in Business from UWA, a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Culture from Curtin University, Bentley and a Certificate in Museum Studies from Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley.
