Ainslie holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Art History from The University of Western Australia's School of Design. Her dissertation explores the art and art market of contemporary artist Cecily Brown (b.1969) and aims to offer a roadmap to a prosperous livelihood for female artists.

In addition to her doctorate, Ainslie's academic qualifications include a Certificate in Museum Studies from Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley; a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Culture from Curtin University, Bentley; a Graduate Certificate in Business; and a Master of Curatorial Studies in Fine Art by Research from UWA.
Ainslie has worked in the Fine Arts for three decades as a curator, art consultant and advisor. Today, she works primarily in art collection management, assisting with collection development and valuation. With her academic qualifications and as the owner and operator of a fine art consultancy business, Ainslie has developed an extensive understanding of contemporary art and the business of art.
Ainslie is a recipient of the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship and the 2022 Convocation Postgraduate Research Travel Award.
