Ainslie is a Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Art Candidate (2020-2024) at The University of Western Australia's School of Design. Ainslie's dissertation explores the art and art market of contemporary artist Cecily Brown (b.1969). Her PhD aims to offer a roadmap to a prosperous livelihood for female artists.

This PhD supervisors are Dr Ionat Zurr and Dr Darren Jorgensen

In addition to Ainslie's current field of study, her academic qualifications include a Certificate in Museum Studies from Edith Cowan University, Mt Lawley; a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Culture from Curtin University, Bentley; a Graduate Certificate in Business and a Master of Curatorial Studies in Fine Art by Research from UWA.

Ainslie has worked in the Fine Arts for over two decades as a curator and art consultant. Today she works primarily in art collection management. With her academic qualifications and as an owner and operator of a fine art consultancy business, Ainslie has developed an extensive understanding of contemporary art and the business of art.
