Biography

Abi received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the University of Indonesia, majoring chemistry and biochemistry and a Master of Science (MSc) in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Western Australia. Shortly after, he went for a three-month research internship stint in the Laboratory for Metabolomics, RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences in Yokohama, Japan. He was awarded an Australian Government International Research Training Program to start his PhD in 2019 with School of Molecular Sciences and ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology, The University of Western Australia.

Current projects

His PhD projects with Dr Monika Murcha focus on investigating molecular and physiological functions of mitochondrial proteases and peptidases, which are involved in the organellar protein biogenesis and homeostasis (proteostasis).
