Biography

Dr. Abhishek Ghimire is a Research Associate in Composite Repair Technologies at the School of Engineering, The University of Western Australia, working under the supervision of A/Prof. Farhad Aslani. He is engaged in a $4.3M collaborative research initiative with Fuze Group Pty Ltd, The University of Queensland, and the Australian Composites Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC). This project aims to establish a globally recognized standard for bonded composite repairs to structural steel, with applications in offshore and high-risk environments.

Dr. Ghimire holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Czech Technical University in Prague, where his research focused on the numerical modeling and performance of high-strength steel welds. His expertise spans steel and concrete structures, finite element analysis, earthquake engineering, and retrofit design. His work, published in leading journals such as Engineering Structures and the Journal of Constructional Steel Research, contributes to advancing structural design, material efficiency, and infrastructure resilience.
