Biography
Undergraduate degree in Nutrition from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003), Master’s (2006) and PhD (2010) in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Food Science at the Institute of Chemistry (IQ/UFRJ). I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology (IMPG/UFRJ) in 2013. I am currently a member at the School of Pharmacy (FF/UFRJ), serving as an Associate Professor; and a member of The University of Western Australia, serving as an Adjunct Research Fellow. I was Head of the Department of Natural Products and Foods from 2015 to 2021 and have been serving as an occasional substitute head since 2023. Additionally, I have been the Director of Industrial Relations at the Brazilian Society of Food Science and Technology (SBCTA) since 2021 and a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Food Science and Technology (Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos) since 2019. I am responsible for the Bromatology & Health discipline; I am also a permanent member of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (FF/UFRJ), where I lead the discipline in Food Microbiology. Moreover, I coordinated the extension course “Fundamentals of Beer Production and Sensory Analysis” (2015–2019) and have been the coordinator of the InovAbelha extension project since 2024. Recognized as a Young Scientist of Rio de Janeiro/FAPERJ (2018–present), my expertise lies in Natural Products and Foods, with a focus on investigating biological activity in cellular models.
