Biography

Dr Phoebe J Galbally is a Lecturer at the UWA Law School, whose teaching and research interests include media law, comparative constitutional law, human rights and the regulation of the right to freedom of expression in a digital age. Dr Galbally is the Co-Convenor for the WA Chapter of the Australian Association of Constitutional Law (AACL) and the UWA Law School ECR Network. Dr Galbally has published in journals including the Cambridge Law Journal, the Melbourne Journal of International Law and the Media and Arts Law Review.

Dr Galbally undertook her LL.M and PhD at the Melbourne Law School, under the supervision of Professor Adrienne Stone and Professor Andrew Kenyon (Affiliated with the Center for Comparative Constitutional Studies (CCCS) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society, respectively). Dr Galbally was awarded her doctorate in 2024, for her thesis Regulating Democratically Harmful Social Media Communication.

Dr Galbally has previously held teaching positions at Monash University and Deakin University, teaching both Juris Doctor and LLB Units. Dr Galbally was an Assistant Editor with the IACL-AIDC Blog, and was admitted to practice law at the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2016.
