Biography

Giulia joined the CET in January 2022 as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work within the BHP-HGHP consortium on the project “Mineral Messengers”. The project aims to investigate the volatile component signature of porphyry-style copper mineralisation.

Giulia received her M.Sc. (2016) at the University of Padova (Italy) with the thesis ‘A petrological study of an aplitic dyke in the Brixen Granodiorite (Southalpine Basement of the Italian Eastern Alps)”, and she afterwards served a 6-months internship at the Sorbonne Universités (Paris, France) working on the project “Analytical and experimental study of serpentine reduction at high-pressure conditions”.

In May 2021, she received her PhD in petrology/geochemistry at the University of Bologna (Italy) working on a project focused on a multi-microanalytical approach to unveil the deep mobility of carbon and sulfur in fossil continental subduction zones.

Giulia is the early career representative of the GMPV (Geochemistry, Mineralogy, Petrology, Volcanology) Division of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) and she’s involved in the science communication committee of the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology (SIMP).
