Personal profile

Biography

I am a Research Associate at the Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research (WACRSR). I completed my PhD in 2019 and have worked in the area of road safety and injury prevention for the past 12 years. I have expertise in a broad range of road safety areas,  including older drivers, dementia and driving, fatigue, heavy vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, driving simulator research and naturalistic road safety studies.

Research

My PhD project used naturalistic video footage and GPS data to examine safety issues surrounding group riding (cycling) in Perth.

I have been involved in a number of studies examining the impact of first and second eye cataract surgery on crash and injury outcomes.

Another area of research has been examining the impact of new road infrastructure designs and interventions on safety, using a driving simulator.

I recently also led a project reviewing interventions and new technology to improve safety for older pedestrians and those with disabilities when crossing roads in WA, for the Road Safety Commission.

Current projects

I am currently working on a large population-based study examining the association between visual field loss and motor vehicle crashes.
