Biography
Dale Adams grew up and completed his schooling in Germany. He completed Masters degrees at the University Heidelberg in 2003 and Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) in 2004. He completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne in 2009. In 2011, he was awarded a Humanities and Social Sciences Postdoctoral Fellowship at The University of Melbourne. He has been teaching and researching in the German Studies Program in the School of Humanities at The University of Western Australia since 2013.

Research interests
Dale’s research investigates the historical synergies between literature, mathematics and science. His specific research interests include:
German and European Literature of the 18th- 20th centuries.
History and Philosophy of Mathematics and Science.
History and Philosophy of Probability.
Current projects
Dale’s current research is focused on the philosophy and history of the mathematical theory of probability. This interdisciplinary research aims to analyse the reception of mathematical probability in German-language literature from 1800 onwards, illuminating the evolution of a crucial concept in both the history of ideas and German literary history.
Teaching overview
Dale teaches at all levels within the German Studies program from Level One Units to Honours, coordinating and delivering a range of courses which integrate language acquisition with German culture, history, philosophy and literature.
