Dr Hegge is a highly experienced businessman and advisor with a demonstrated capability in project delivery and contract management. He is a Graduate of the Company Directors Course, has a PhD in Geography (coastal geomorphology), is a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP Certificate No. 786) and Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia. Dr Hegge is recognised by the Environmental Consultants Association for his specialist skills in Marine & Coastal, Environmental Impact Assessment & Approvals and Program Management.
As a commercial scientist Bruce has over 28 years of experience and has personally completed over 300 environmental projects throughout Western Australia covering a wide range of issues, including: dredging, coastal infrastructure developments, contaminated sites assessment/rehabilitation, marine water and sediment quality and coastal vulnerability. This work has included: strategic advice, peer reviews, workshop facilitation, project scoping, liaison with regulators, impact assessments, baseline and impact environmental surveys, development, and implementation of environmental management plans, decommissioning and rehabilitation plans and environmental compliance audits.
Bruce has significant professional experience in the ports, harbours and marine industry with demonstrated board-level experience and a strong understanding of marine environmental matters, risk and compliance, and project management. Dr Hegge is a strong systems thinker with excellent skills in data analysis, report writing and communication and is able to rapidly assimilate new information and present this in a clear and concise manner. Bruce maintains a strong network with colleagues in industry, government and academia.
Dr Hegge holds, or has held, a number of board and advisory positions, including: Chairperson of Perth Region Natural Resource Management (NRM), Board Member and Treasurer of Be Living Smart, Member of Edith Cowan Joint Sciences Course Consultative Committee, Member of Environment Working Group of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA and Member of the Buurabalayji Thalanyji Aboriginal Corporation Employment and Business Opportunities Committee. Bruce was previously Chairman of Quintilian School and has also acted as a judge for several professional awards and has held committee roles on several professional societies
Through his board-level experience Dr Hegge has a deep understanding of governance, strategy, organisational culture, contract management, business finance, marketing, business development, human resource management, business systems and information technology. He has a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and the application of innovative methods to enhance business outcomes.
