Personal profile

Biography

Tracy started working at the University in March 1989 as a Junior Clerk in the Department of Management. Tracy took the opportunity when it presented itself a few years later to transfer to the newly established Graduate School of Management and spent a great deal of time as an administrator supporting MBA students locally and offshore. After several years in the administrator role, Tracy could not resist the opportunity, when presented, to take on the responsibility of being the School’s Office Manager as well as the challenge of completing an MBA (Advanced) in both a part-time and full-time capacity. While studying she was actively involved with the student group and become Secretary of the Graduate Management Association.

Looking for a new challenge on completion of her studies, Tracy transferred to the newly established School of Economics and Commerce in 2003 (now UWA Business School) as Team Manager (Accounting & Finance Discipline). The flexibility within the School’s organisational structure enabled her to transfer to her current team with the Management & Organisations Discipline. The move into the new Business School building in 2008 provided Tracy a new challenge as Building Warden/Safety Officer. She was acknowledged for her commitment to safety at the University with the UWA Safety Leadership Award in 2010.

Outside of work Tracy has volunteered as Treasurer/Secretary with the Rhodes Dart Club, Treasurer with the WA Blind Bowlers Association and served as a UWA Convocation Councillor and took responsibility as Convocation’s Outreach Convenor.

Roles and responsibilities

Tracy works with the Academic Services Manager (ASM) and in close liaison with the Head of Discipline to ensure efficient administrative support. She leads a team of administrative staff (5), which liaise with academic and administrative staff within the team and School, as well as personnel across campus and those in the wider community.

Tracy reports directly to the ASM and is a key member of the School’s administrative planning and support group, operating with a high level of autonomy to co-ordinate and lead specific school-wide projects and report back to the ASM as required.

Responsibilities include:
• resource management (team work allocation and planning, recruitment and training, accommodation and infrastructure to maximise employment of resources);
• staff development (probation, reviews and professional growth to develop and retaining high quality staff)
• collaboration with ASM and team managers to develop administrative procedures and tools, with continuous evaluation and improvement initiatives to increase administrative productivity and efficiency
• maintaining effective communications across the academic, student and administrative areas of support
• promoting a collaborative and inclusive School culture, recognising the value of occupational safety and wellbeing, and equity and diversity
• high level of executive support to Head of Discipline for duties related to management of academic staff and teaching programs
• gathering, recording and the maintenance of data for planning, accreditation, senior managerial decision making and University and statutory compliance purposes
