Organisation profile

The UWA Tech & Policy Lab is an interdisciplinary research centre focused on civic accountability in the tech ecosystem. Based in the UWA Law School, the Lab draws together expertise in technology law and governance, biomechanics and bioengineering, infrastructure, data analytics and machine learning/AI, and augmented/virtual/extended reality technologies.
The Lab Directors are Associate Professor Julia Powles (law and technology) and Professor Jacqueline Alderson (data, AI, and pro-public tech). The broader Lab team includes chief investigators, research fellows and associates, professional staff, HDR and student researchers, and visiting and adjunct fellows.

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
