Dataset

Description

The datasets contain hippocampal cell numbers and ecological variables used to investigate the evolution of the hippocampus and the ecological factors that are drivers of natural selection in the phylogenetic development of the hippocampus. The dataset on hippocampal cell numbers
contains additional species, which due to specimen n < 3 were not included in the analysis. In addition, the dataset on hippocampal cell numbers contains all sampling parameters, CE estimates and all other information on the specimens available to us (e.g., brain weights, body
weights, sex). Interactive graphs permit species identification in 3D representations of phylogenetic principal components analyses (principal components 1 - 3) and species identification and exploration in the hippocampal morphospace. The R script that was used to analyse the data is provided.
