Description

This instruction file accompanies the paper entitled “Cutting Corners, Cutting Dividends: Evidence from Reverse Mergers in China”.

All variables used in this study are obtained from commercial databases or official sources, following transparent retrieval and processing protocols to ensure replicability. To comply with data licensing and copyright restrictions (particularly those governing the CSMAR Database), we are unable to share the full or partial dataset used in this study.

Researchers wishing to replicate our analysis can obtain the required data directly from the corresponding databases listed below. We provide a detailed guide to variable definitions, data sources, and construction procedures in this document.

We make publicly available the following materials through our Mendeley Data repository:
• 01_Readme.pdf: detailed documentation on data sources, variable construction, and sample screening procedures (the current document);
• rm_identifier.dta: reverse merger–related variables, manually constructed and verified by the authors; and
• code.do: full Stata replication code used to reproduce the empirical results.
