Social Work in Health and Human Service Contexts



The unit has an emphasis on consolidating learning from field education and previous units to support your entry into professional practice with relevant knowledge and skills. It includes an analysis of knowledge and practice approaches that are commonly required for working in health and human service settings including social determinants of health; power; intersectionality; poverty and homelessness; substance misuse; gendered violence; trauma, grief and loss; the NDIS, disability and mental illness; fertility and reproductive health, and workplace mental health and wellbeing.
Knowledge of intersectionality, the impact of inequalities on individuals, families and communities, working in partnership, and change and leadership is incorporated into the learning.
